We are now set to see the radiation oncologist today instead of Thursday (or maybe in addition to Thursday. . . we see the docs on a regular basis!!!) Dougie managed the weekend pretty well. He got some food down and I gave him 2 liters of fluid over the last couple of days. I am sure he is ready to be disconnected from the port, but we kept him connected so they would not have to stick him today when they get labs today. He has been a good sport with all this. The constant fluid being poured into him, constantly being connected to a machine or fluids and tubes. No FUN! He has only lost about 7 pounds over the last few days, so we are pretty happy with that. He managed not to vomit at all from this cycle of chemo (that I know of! 🙂 ). So we are looking forward to the end of the week, which will be when he starts to get some of his strength back and get back to a little bit of normal life (normal is such a subjective term for us now!).
Damn Dude, You really can pull off the bald thang!!! I’m telling you, you really should keep the hair high and tight and grow a “goate” when your back to being a hair FARMER again!!!
That’s cool that your buddies shaved their heads for you. Now I told you I love you, BUT I figure that since I have so much hair I’ll just cut a LITTLE of my hair and make you a nice rug… My own little Locks for Dougie program. 🙂
We think about you kid’s often and are praying that you kick ass and put the big C behind your big A, ASAP!!!
Much Love,
Shawnie, Vonnie, Pierce & Savannah
I don’t know about the “goate”, but facial hair is a must. . . gotta have the facial hair! Pretty soon, his legs will be smoother than mine. . . pretty sad!
Thanks for keeping such regular updates on your treatment and progress. I have to agree with the others that I quite like the shaved head look on you too! Some people just have the face for it!
It sounds like you are really keeping a positive attitude through all of this and I’m glad you’re holding to on to your sense of humor!
Laurie sounds like she’s really a great support to you! I will keep checking the blog to see the progress you’re making!
You are in my thoughts and prayers,
Julie
Team Jones says hurry up so you can be back in the gym with us….kicking our butts! We love you!
Hey Doug,
They’re not lying when they say you sport the bald head well….you look just like you did in high school (and that’s a good thing!). I’m so glad I found Laurie on Facebook so I can keep up with your progress. And what an awesome blessing that she’s so well equipped to help you through the chemo and radiation. I’ve been through this with my grandmother – who is a breast cancer survivor. I know her positive attitude was a huge factor in her recovery. Your humor has always been amazing and it’s being put to good use now.
I”ll keep checking back for updates and your big smile. You’ve got another prayer warrior on your side – prayers will go up daily for you, my friend.
All the best,
Michelle
