Today was the first day Doug woke up without his mouth sealed shut by the mouth sore crusty stuff. This is good news because it means the sores on his lips are getting better. It has been 5 days since his last radiation and hopefully he is starting to turn the corner. His spirits are coming up (thank you for all of your prayers), he is back to getting about 6 cans of food down for the second day in a row. No vomiting spells to speak of, I started giving him some Robitussin to try and thin out the funk in his throat to see if that would help keep him from gagging on it. It seems to have helped. His brother came by last night and he spent the evening talking basketball with Doug and that was the best medicine for him. (I don’t speak that language! 🙂 ) Yesterday, Trevor and Reece also came over to hang out with Dougie in his “crib” to try and cheer him up. I got the above picture of the event! 🙂 I am not sure if they were entertained more by hanging with Uncle Dougie or if it was the fan circling above. Either way, he did have some fun with his visitors yesterday!!
If you are wondering, Trevor is on the right and Reece is next to Dougie. He was playing peek a boo with the blanket!
Praise God! And hopefully he’ll continue to go up from here. Glad to hear it! We love you!
I post this last night, but last night was brutal. He was up every couple of hours spitting/hacking/coughing up yucky stuff. Not sure if he actually vomited, but he definitely got rid of some funk last night. Hopefully, he can get some sleep today.
Thank the Lord you are doing better. Please know that your South Carolina family is still holding you up in prayer and love you much. I know they all don’t send a comment but have been keeping up with your progress through the blog. Continue to take care of yourself and be a good patient.
Thinking of you both and continuing prayers. Thanks again for keeping the blog updated. I’m glad to be able to check on Doug’s progress. Laurie, you must be an angel:-)
One small comment to sum up my first thought as I viewed this picture…3 miracles…I am looking at 3 miracles and they are all together. Wow!!! It is such an overwhelming feeling to have at a distance shared what your family has endured this past year and to see these 3 miracles. Doug is looking so much better and will be back to norm before much longer. And the twins, oh my gosh! They are so beautiful…who would ever believe that these two little fellows started off having to fight so hard. Between the two of them and Zoe that has to be good medicine for Doug. You are still in our prayers and thoughts.
